My hobbies include mountain climbing, hiking and traveling. I believe that people&＃39;s instinctive animalistic sensibilities and behavior in the overwhelming wilderness is what we should be like. From this perspective, I would like to learn more about the relationship between nature and people. I believe that we can deepen our understanding by learning about the lifestyles and traditions of people who live in harmony with nature, as well as the impact and dependence of corporate activities on biodiversity. Career Born in Uozu City, Toyama Prefecture. Graduated from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Tokyo. Worked at Nikkei BP as an staff editor and writer for Nikkei Electronics, Nikkei Electronics Asia, and as Deputy Editor of National Geographic Japanese edition, as an Editorial Board Member, of Nikkei Ecology, Nikkei ESG Management Forum Producer, and Nikkei ESG Senior Editor. I am also an affiliate professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Toyama, affiliate professor at the Faculty of Contemporary Society, Toyama University of International Studies, and a part-time lecturer at the Department of International Exchange, University of the Sacred Heart. From 2021, under a cross-appointment system, I will serve concurrently as a senior editor at Nikkei BP and a professor at the Graduate School of Life Sciences, Tohoku University. Teaching Environmental Management Course Joint lecture Recent Activities I am researching biodiversity and natural capital and corporate activities. I am researching the future of TNFD (Nature-related Financial Disclosure Task Force). Local nature is a local resource and asset. I am also researching nature-based local development and SDGs. In manufacturing and procurement, it is important to consider not only the environment but also social aspects such as human rights and labor, and I am also interested in how to ensure sustainability. Message to Students I believe that "people" and "nature" are treasures. In the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Tokyo Olympics, the actions of many people and volunteers were praised. Human resources are assets. In addition, about 70% of Japan&＃39;s land is covered with forests, and it is surrounded by the sea on all sides, making it rich in nature. However, these human resources and nature have not been highly valued in the conventional economic system. It is only recently that the terms "human capital" and "natural capital" have become common. In the future, I believe that it is important to find ways to create an economy and lifestyle that values people and nature more.
