Spring Festival - the annual showcase weekend at Kawauchi campus for clubs and circles to recruit new members - was held on April 15 and 16. It attracted about 1,800 students this year, despite rain on the first day. Unlike previous years when culture and sports clubs were introduced on separate days, this past weekend featured a mix of activities by 111 student groups. There were information booths, performances and demonstrations, and new students were encouraged to be hands-on, to try the various cultural activities or join in a sporting contest. Many student clubs and circles have had their activities restricted these last three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But with the university's BCP level currently down to zero, restrictions have eased, and campus activities are expected to return to normal this year. The university hopes that events like the Spring Festival will help new students find activities and friends that would make campus life more fun and fulfilling.
